I agree. This is a prime example of why companies want to be NPE's or patent trolls. The effect of a single IP can be applicable to a host of companies and their partners. Such is the case with Apple and Samsung. While Apple sued Samsung for an autocomplete IP infringement, the situation may now concern other Android users and Google that have also used that IP.
ReplyDeleteAlthough the danger of NPE's is a problem, I think the IP system, by nature, promotes patent trolling. Patents are such great incentives for innovation and competition, but they are just as powerful in hindering progress.
